Snack Shack

Location: W103 Thompson Hall

Spring 2024 Hours of Operation: M-Th. 9am - 2pm

The Snack Shack has been in existence since the 1970's in Thompson Hall, run completely by students in the Business Club.  Profits have been used to fund student group activities, student scholarships, or to improve learning facilities for our students.

The Thompson Hall third-floor location recently relocated to W103 Thompson, the former Tim Horton's Express site.  The new Snack Shack will now accept credit or debit cards as it's only form of payment.  Unfortunately, for the time being, we cannot accept cash, check, or Fred Funds.  Fresh breakfast and lunch items will be served, along with hot coffee, energy drinks, candy, snacks, and many other favorites.

The Snack Shack is open to all Students, Faculty, Staff, and Visitors so stop in to see what's new!!

Want to intern for the Snack Shack??

Student interns operate the Snack Shack and are responsible for making the strategic operating, financial, technology, and marketing decisions of the business.  It's a great opportunity to get hands-on experience in operating all aspects of a small business.  For example, a student intern must maintain communication with the store manager (also an intern), coordinate shift changes, manage inventory, order and maintain stock, serve customers, process payments, maintain quality and safety standards, and troubleshoot on the job.  Interns are responsible for opening and closing procedures, and weekly meetings with their faculty advisor.  There are also opportunities for internships outside the working hours of the Snack Shack maintaining the business's accounting, tax, and inventory records. Additional positions in data analytics are available as well.  Credit hours earned are based on shifts and/or hours worked (40 hours = 1 credit).

The Snack Shack provides hands-on managerial opportunities for Fredonia students in any major.  Student interns gain practical knowledge of how a small business operates, they participate in planning, operations, data analytics, and reporting for a business, and learn how to make data-driven decision-making skills.  Other skills and abilities that interns acquire or improve upon include reliability, strong work ethic, verbal and written communication skills, customer service skills, organization and time management skills, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.
