Facial coverings required in the academic and residential core areas of campus

The Fall Reopening Steering Committee, with approval from Fredonia's Cabinet, has revised campus guidance concerning facial coverings.

CDC guidance and research shows facial coverings are one of the most effective ways to reduce COVID-19 spread. Therefore, facial coverings will be required inside all campus buildings, and must be worn outside of buildings throughout the academic and residential core areas of campus. 

"Inside all buildings" means all Fredonia students, faculty, staff, and essential visitors are required to wear a face covering at all times inside all buildings, classrooms, labs, or other facilities. It does not apply to a person alone or with a roommate inside their own residence hall room, alone in a fully enclosed private office or within a private vehicle. Additionally, while everyone entering and exiting dining halls must wear a face mask until seated, they may remove their mask by necessity when actively eating or drinking.  

"The academic and residential core areas of campus" refers to the residential complexes and spaces between academic buildings in the heart of the campus. The map above shows the designated areas. In these areas, facial coverings must be worn outside within this area, including moving from building to building. Signs will be posted on light poles throughout these designated areas.  

Hand sanitizer stations

Fredonia's Cabinet has also approved a recommendation from the Fall Reopening Steering Committee to place additional hand sanitizer stations in multiple locations in all academic buildings and add additional stations in buildings that currently have them. All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to use the stations throughout the day, in addition to frequent hand-washing to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Facilities Services will maintain the supply of hand sanitizer in those stations.
