Study Abroad to Russia program explained

SUNY Fredonia students will have the opportunity to learn about this year’s Study Abroad to Russia summer course at an informational meeting to be held Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. at 212 Jewett Hall.  During the trip, which runs June 4 through 23, students will go on various excursions around St. Petersburg while learning about Russian history and culture. Major attractions include The Hermitage Art Museum, the majestic fountains of Peterhof and the baroque style of Catherine’s Palace.

During their stay in Moscow, students will visit famous sites such as Red Square, the Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral, and also meet and interact with fellow students at St. Petersburg State University. Students will be able to experience another culture directly and form international friendships that can last a lifetime.

This will be the fifth year that SUNY Fredonia has offered Study Abroad in Russia, which serves as an exchange vehicle that also brings a group of Russian students to campus in July and arranges tours in Western New York. Both student groups genuinely enjoy the experiences.

Refreshments will be served at the informational meeting, which will be followed by an entertaining Russian movie, “Night Watch,” which will be shown for those who wish to remain after the meeting. A trailer for the movie can be viewed on YouTube.
