Study Abroad Fair this week answers questions for students who want international experience

SUNY Fredonia’s annual Study Abroad Fair will be held on Friday, Sept. 17 in the Williams Center’s Multipurpose Room from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fair, hosted by the International Education Center for the last 15 years, introduces college students of any age and level to as many as 450 diverse programs offered in 58 different countries, ranging from the sunshine coast of Australia to the mountains of Bulgaria and St. Petersburg, Russia.

Study abroad is not for just for those studying foreign language studies. In fact, students can take major course work, minor course work, upper-division electives, and/or College Core Curriculum requirements while abroad.

Study Abroad advising staff, program representatives and student returnees will be on-hand to provide assistance and advice to students regarding such questions as federal loan and grant information, course credits, factors to consider when choosing a program, and eligibility.

Representatives from 12 other SUNY schools, many of which have reciprocal agreements in place with Fredonia, will also be present with information regarding their individual study abroad programs. Students will be offered the opportunity to apply for a passport on site with representatives from the Fredonia Post Office.

Last year, Fredonia sent about 200 students abroad for full semester and short-term programs and hopes to gain even more students this year.
