Four winners honored April 13 for Rosa Parks contest

Four seniors are the winners of this year’s Rosa Parks Scholarship Competition.

Robert Earl Allen III, David Edsall, Melody Jones, and Matthew Vercant will receive their awards and read, exhibit, or perform their winning works at the annual Rosa Parks ceremony Thursday, April 13 at 4 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. A reception will be held afterwards in Café G hosted by the Multicultural Affairs center (starting time is approximately 5 p.m.).

Mr. Allen, graphic arts major from Rego Park, Queens, won for his artistic submission, "Celebrating the Life of Rosa Parks."

Mr. Edsall, a TV/digital film major from Cape Vincent, wrote the winning essay, "Where is our Rosa Parks? Her Inspiration Lives on Within."

Ms. Jones, a sound recording technology major from Lockport, was selected for her song, "Just Breathe."

Mr. Vercant, an English major from Cassadaga, was selected for his prize-winning short story, "An Angel’s Music Ain’t Always a Good Thing."
