Four students have achieved distinction as recipients of the Jeanette McVicker Scholarship in Women’s and Gender Studies for 2022: Haileigh Pawlak, Kristin White, Amber Ambrose and Jessica Keeler.
Jessica Kahkoska, a writer, dramaturg/researcher, and producer for theatre and television based in New York City, has been named the Marion Fellow for 2022 for her project “Dream: A New Musical.”
Spoken word artist Jillian Hanesworth, a community activist/organizer in Buffalo and SUNY Fredonia graduate, will give an in-person poetry performance as part of the Mary Louise White Visiting Writer Series at The Spot at Tim Hortons in the Williams Center on April 28.

Fredonians of all affiliations are encouraged that day to take to the Fredonia social media pages, learn about the impact of donations around campus, and most importantly, spread the culture of #FREDlanthropy by giving back through the Fredonia College Foundation.
The Fredonia Street Piano Project at SUNY Fredonia will unveil three pianos, each adorned with a one-of-a-kind design created by a local artist and ultimately weatherized so it can be played outdoors, at a ceremony on Wednesday, April 27, at 6 p.m.
The Inaugural Helen Tinch Williams Recital will be held Friday, April 29, at 8 p.m., in Rosch Recital Hall at SUNY Fredonia. Featured artists include special guest soloist and soprano Nia Drummond.
SUNY Fredonia will welcome back alumni Jakera Cooper Willis, an entrepreneur who has won national competitions for her food products, and Jordan Willis, a storyboard revisionist with Marvel Studios, for a four-day residency on April 20 to 23.
The Fredonia Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Paula Holcomb, commissioned a work by Pulitzer Prize-finalist composer, Augusta Read Thomas featuring bassoonist Nadina Mackie Jackson.
Sadie Olrogg and Brandon Landis, juniors majoring in Chemistry, represented the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the recently concluded American Chemical Society (ACS) Spring National Meeting at the San Diego Convention Center.
