Foundation honors contributors to society

The Fredonia College Foundation presented its Distinguished Service Awards on Saturday in the Williams Center on the SUNY Fredonia campus. This year’s honorees, which must be citizens and organizations that make significant contributions to society through business, government, education and the arts, were Mrs. Gileen W. French, The Holmberg Foundation, and the Quatroche Family.

SUNY Fredonia chooses new name for Speech Pathology Department

SUNY Fredonia joins a growing number of universities across the nation to change the name of their Speech Pathology and Audiology department to Communication Disorders and Sciences. Chairperson Kim Tillery explained that the new title is more appropriate for a curriculum that addresses nine disorders, along with social aspects and assistive technology in speech-language pathology and science.

Theatre grads return to area to direct Jamestown High School's "To Kill a Mockingbird"

Two theatre graduates from the State University of New York at Fredonia have returned to direct a production of “To Kill a Mockingbird” at Jamestown High School as part of the National Endowment for the Arts’ The Big Read initiative. Aundre Seals, a 2007 graduate, and Dan Lendzian, a 2006 graduate, will direct the student production

Study tests effectiveness of podcasts vs. lectures

Dani McKinney, right, together with fellow Psychology professor Jennifer Dyck and student Elise Luber, ’08, conducted a study which investigated the effectiveness of podcast lectures compared to their live lecture counterparts. The results have surprised some, and have people talking about what it could mean to the future of teaching and learning.
