SUNY Fredonia Stratigraphy class to experience field work with peers

Students enrolled in GEO 400: Stratigraphy, taught by Department of Geology and Environmental Sciences Associate Professor Thomas Hegna, will go on a joint field trip to two sites near Rochester, NY, with a stratigraphy class from SUNY Geneseo taught by Dr. Jeff Over, on Sunday, Sept. 24.

The objective of the trip is to give the students experience in collecting geological data by measuring and describing a succession of Silurian-aged rocks (approximately 415 to 445 million years in age) near Rochester and to explore the paleoenvironments of a Devonian (approximately 360 to 415 million years old) fossil coral reef near LeRoy, NY.
