The Henry C. Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders at SUNY Fredonia will resume offering support group meetings for stroke and head injury survivors and family members during the fall semester.

The group will meet the first and third Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. in Thompson Hall Room E148 unless otherwise stated.

The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 20. A typical group meeting will include activities to help stroke and head injury survivors use compensatory strategies to improve communication skills, provide educational information and an opportunity to socialize and share experiences. Light refreshments will be provided.

Staff suggest those planning to attend monitor the COVID-19 Community Level in their area, and know that they may choose to wear a mask at any time.

The Youngerman Center recognizes that there are individuals in the community whose insurance benefit for therapy has been exhausted but their hopes for improvement have not. Please contact Julie Williams, coordinator, at 716-673-4618 for more information about attending the group.

The rest of the Stroke/Head Injury Support Group meetings will be held on:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 4
  • Tuesday, Oct. 18
  • Tuesday, Nov. 1
  • Tuesday, Nov. 15
  • Tuesday, Dec. 6
