SUNY Fredonia alumna Mary Ramsey, lead vocalist of 10,000 Maniacs, and Leigh Nash, of Sixpence None the Richer ¬– both alternative rock groups – will be featured in the Women in Music Industry symposium at the Williams Center Blue Lounge on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at noon.

Both musicians will describe their journeys in the industry and the business side of the arts in this series sponsored by SUNY Fredonia’s Music Industry program and the Center for Innovation and Economic Development, formerly known as the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator.

Ms. Ramsey is the lead vocalist and violinist with 10,000 Maniacs, now in the midst of its Revival Tour 2023-2024. She became the voice of the group following the departure of Natalie Merchant.

Ms. Nash’s Sixpence None the Richer’s hit song “Kiss Me” has attracted 710,000 plays on Spotify and was actually demoed in SUNY Fredonia’s sound recording technology studio in Mason Hall. Music Industry Lecturer Armand Petri is the current producer of 10,000 Maniacs and Sixpence None the Richer. He managed the latter group when it was formed and produced their first three records.

The campus presentation, the final installment in the center’s Women in Music series, is free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided.
