Purtill writes article published in Quaternary Times

Department of Geology and Environmental Sciences Assistant Professor Matthew Purtill wrote a short article, which introduces the Eastern U.S. Eolian Geoarchaeology Project (EUSEGP), that was published in the spring edition of Quaternary Times, a publication of the American Quaternary Association Inc.

The EUSEGP project seeks to inventory absolute geochronological dates that are less than 14,500 years old from interior, non-coastal eolian (wind-blown) dunes and interdunal sand sheets. Its primary geographic focus is the Ohio River, Lake Erie and Lake Michigan catchments. The purpose of the project is to identify settings where Native American archaeological sites may be buried below windblown sediments.
