School of Business Lecturer Mark Nickerson was called upon to contribute to a national newspaper article based on his tax expertise and an article he wrote, "A Spotlight on New York State Residency Requirements," that appeared in the Jan. 1 edition of TaxStringer, an online publication of the New York State Society of CPAs.

In the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post article, "For Trump, being a Florida Resident is Easy. But will N.Y. let Go?,” Mr. Nickerson is quoted several times by writer Christine Stapleton, lending his expertise in New York tax residency requirements and indicating how President Donald Trump may find it difficult to prove he is not a New York resident, despite declaring Florida as his legal domicile, upon leaving the White House. The article was published in the Post’s Nov. 19 edition.

Nickerson, in his TaxStringer article, suggests Mr. Trump’s relocation was motivated by the lack of any personal income or estate tax in Florida. The article can be found online.

The Palm Beach Post article can also be found online.
