Music Therapy students Alyssa Santiago and Venus Rodriguez, and Dr. Heeyoun K. Cho, an assistant professor of Music Therapy in the School of Music, led a couple of breakout sessions with high school students with disabilities at a recent Youth Activation Committee kick-off event.

Ms. Santiago, a senior from Spring Glen, NY, is also majoring in Music, and Venus Rodriguez is a first-year student from Bronx, NY.

The Youth Activation Committee is part of Unified Sports, an official program of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, that joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team.

In the Oct. 6 sessions held on the campus, high school students mingled and interacted with each other through various music interventions such as singing, moving, instrument playing and dancing.
