The Office of Residence Life has named Lauren Poplawski, a senior majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from LaFayette, NY, as the Student of the Month for January/February.

Nominating Ms. Poplawski for this award was Donna “DG” Good, who cited her strong academic record and numerous contributions highlighted by Poplawski’s work as a resident assistant at Chautauqua Hall.

Ms. Good, residence director of Chautauqua Hall, spoke highly of Poplawski’s abilities, noting, “Lauren is a highly motivated student. She takes a lot of initiative in her classes and as a member of the campus community.”

When asked about what she likes most about Fredonia, Poplawski wrote, “My favorite thing about Fredonia are the faculty who genuinely prioritize the success of their students.”

As far as future goals, Poplawski said, “After completing my undergraduate studies, I'm excited to start my master's degree in Social Work at Daemen University. My future goal is to support adolescents who have experienced challenging circumstances that have led to their involvement in criminal activity.”

The Student of the Month program was implemented in 2003 to recognize students who are well-rounded, excel in their academics and contribute positively to the campus and community.
