Jarvis’s Vonnegut scholarship continues to shine

Department of English Professor Christina Jarvis has published the entry on Kurt Vonnegut in “The Encyclopedia of Contemporary American Fiction 1980-2020,” which has been released in electronic format on Wiley Online Library and in print.
For the volume, editors Patrick O’Donnell, Stephen Burn and Lesley Larkin assembled “a team of distinguished scholars” to offer an “in-depth collection of essays on some of the most significant and influential authors and literary subjects of the last four decades.” Dr. Jarvis was especially honored to publish the essay on Vonnegut during the centennial year of the Hoosier icon’s birth.
Jarvis’s Vonnegut scholarship has also led to other “peculiar travel suggestions” and presentation opportunities. On May 21, she will appear on “The Vonnecast,” the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library’s podcast devoted to exploring the acclaimed writer’s many legacies. Previous guests include comedians Gary Gulman and Lewis Black, musicians Jared and Joshua Thompson and Ginger Strand, author of “The Brothers Vonnegut.” New episodes premiere on Saturdays at 4 p.m. EST on WQRT Indianapolis, and then are available on demand on Apple and Spotify.
On July 26, Jarvis will return to the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library’s “Teaching Vonnegut” series, with the presentation “Vox Humana & Mary Hepburn: Making Vonnegut’s Planetary Citizenship Live!” To learn more about the “Teaching Vonnegut” program and to see the full series of workshops, visit the KVML’s website.
