Garrett Stuckey took the first pitch of the game over the centerfield fence and the Fredonia State baseball team would go on to win Game 1 of a doubleheader, 5-3, at New Paltz. In Game 2, the Devils would lead 3-1 after six-and-a-half innings, but New Paltz scored seven runs over the final two innings to secure an 8-3 win.

Game 1
Peyton Ahlstrom limited the New Paltz hitters to three hits over four-plus innings of work. He gave up two earned runs, striking out two and working around five walks. Nate O'Brochta went the final five innings, allowing one run and earning the win.

New Paltz would get both runs on Ahlstrom in the second, taking a 2-1 lead. The Devils responded with a three-run third.

Christian Pagano tripled to score Stuckey, and Tyler Curtis followed with a double to plate Pagano. After a walk to Ethan Behnke, a wild throw on a pickoff attempt allowed Curtis to score, giving Fredonia State a 4-2 lead.

O'Brochta gave up a run in the sixth as the Hawks cut the lead to 4-3. From there, he would finish with three scoreless innings.

A single by Tucker Schwab gave the Devils an insurance run in the ninth. Schwab, Curtis, and Stuckey all finished with two hits apiece.

Game 2
Morgan Zientara started on the mound and gave the Devils a strong effort, going 5 2/3 innings, allowing just one run. Unfortunately, he left the game down 1-0.

The Devils would get things going in the top of the seventh, scoring three times. They were beneficiaries of a bases-loaded walk and a wild pitch to score two of the runs. Pagano drove in the other run with a base hit to give the Devils a short-lived 3-1 edge.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Hawks used an RBI single followed by a Michael Boccarossa homerun to retake the lead. They would later tack on a fifth run of the inning following a wild pitch. They would add on a pair of insurance runs in the eighth.

Pagano led the Devils with two hits.

Connor Burkestone -- the third of four Fredonia State pitchers -- took the loss, giving up four runs in one inning of work.

New Paltz moves to 10-8 and 3-3 in the SUNYAC.
